‘Cruella’ star Emma Stone has opened up about the absence of one particular prop that was prominently featured in the original ‘101 Dalmatians’ movie.
Emma Stone, 32, has revealed why her character’s signature cigarette is absent from Disney’s Cruella. The new mom opened up in a new interview about why the prop, which was featured heavily in the original 101 Dalmatians movie, didn’t make the cut in the new live action spin-off film. “That is not allowed in 2021,” Emma told The New York Times. “We are not allowed to smoke onscreen in a Disney film. It was difficult to not have that cigarette holder … I was so excited to have that green plume of smoke in there, but it was not possible.”
Disney first banned smoking in all of its films around 2007, and extended the rule to all Lucasfilm, Marvel, and Pixar films in 2015. Emma added, “I don’t want to promote smoking, but I’m also not trying to promote skinning puppies.” It comes just a few days after the La La Land actress responded to rumors that she could be reprising her role of Gwen Stacy in the upcoming Spiderman film.
The new Marvel movie, Spider-Man 3: No Way Home, is set to feature appearances from characters within the multiverse, however Emma, who appeared in the 2012 iteration of the franchise opposite Andrew Garfield, is not one of them. “I have heard those rumors,” Emma told MTV News on May 27. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything, but I’m not [involved]. I’m not. I don’t know what you’re supposed to respond as an alumnus.”
Fans of the Oscar winner would know she recently made her first red carpet appearance since giving birth to baby Louise Jean McCary. The A-lister welcomed her first child with her comedian husband Dave McCary, 35, on March 20. Although she hasn’t spoken publicly about her little bundle of joy, and insider told Us Weekly last month that the pair were doing well. “Having a baby has brought them closer in a way they never expected,” a source told the outlet, explaining that Emma “has been at home with her husband and the baby.” So sweet!
Tim Burton & Helena Bonham Carter’s Rarely Seen Kids Billy Ray, 18, & Nell, 13, Attend Film Screening
The ‘Corpse Bride’ director’s children joined him on the red carpet at the Rome Film Festival, for a tribute to Tim Burton.
Tim Burton was a proud dad, as he posed on the red carpet with his son Billy Ray, 18, and daughter Nell, 13, at the Rome Film Fest on Saturday October 23. The 63-year-old director and his little ones were attending a “Close Encounters” salute to his films at the Italian movie festival. The director seemed very happy as he stood with both of his kids (plus their dog!) around his arms.
Fitting to the director’s dark style of filmmaking, Tim and the kids were all dressed in black. The Dumbo director rocked a suit with a black and blue patterned shirt underneath, along with his huge pair of glasses. Billy also wore a black suit and held up the family dog Levi for an adorable red carpet bonus. Nell gave off total Wednesday Addams vibes with her old-fashioned-styled black dress with a white collar, and a pair of elevated black, platform boots. She also held a large white purse on the red carpet.
Tim shares Billy Ray and Nell with his ex Helena Bonham Carter, whom he was with from 2001 until 2014. Billy was named after both Tim’s father William, and Helena’s dad Raymond. Nell was named “after all the Helens in the family,” The Crown actress told The Jewish Journal in 2008, via People. Tim’s relationship with the Fight Club actress was probably his most well-known, as the two worked together on a number of projects including Sweeney Todd, Planet of the Apes, Corpse Bride, and other movies. The Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children director had been married to German artist Lena Gieseke from 1987 to 1991. He also dated Lisa Marie, whom he collaborated with on his movies Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, and Mars Attack! Prior to getting together with Tim, Helena had dated English actor Kenneth Branagh for about five years, before they split up in 1999.

The star recently made waves dropping her first Spanish single “Pa’ Mis Muchachas” in two decades, along with a spicy new music video! Notably, Christina’s father Fausto Xavier Aguilera hails from Ecuador, while her mom Shelly Loraine Kearns is of Welsh, Dutch, German and Irish ancestry.
She also said the song is meant to be an “homage to women” in an interview with Billboard. “In the song we mention that I’m a woman that is strong because I was raised by a woman that was strong and so was she before that,” she explained. “It’s something that gets passed down by generations. I chose Nathy, Becky and Nicki because of the strength they exude.”
