Meghan McCain fired back at critics who called her out for her controversial ‘identity politics’ rant on ‘The View,’ saying she’s got ‘tough skin.’
Meghan McCain will not walk back her controversial comments about “identity politics” and representation on The View. “I’ve accumulated tough, crocodile skin being in this industry as long as I have. I know who I am and what I believe in this world — just glad I can keep so many (many!!) of you talking and thinking even if it’s that you hate me and my opinions,” Meghan tweeted on the night of March 24.

Meghan, 36, faced major backlash online after insisting on The View that a person’s identity, including race, can factor into whether they get hired for a job — regardless of whether they’re the most qualified. “If you have someone more qualified who happens to be a white, straight person — who has more experience in whatever field they’re being nominated for than a minority with less experience — are we in a place where this matters?” Meghan said during the heated segment.
“Even if people need money, even if people are qualified to get into Ivy Leagues, race and gender is more important than your skill qualifications [or] the content of your character,” she argued, boldly insisting that this isn’t “what Martin Luther King, Jr. preached. I think this is a very, very slippery slope.” The co-hosts were discussing Sen. Tammy Duckworth‘s call for President Joe Biden to add an AAPI member to his Cabinet amidst a surge of anti-Asian violence in the country.
In response, the White House says they will hire a senior-level Asian American Pacific Islander liaison. “The President has made it clear that his Administration will reflect the diversity of the country. That has always been, and remains our goal,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.
Meghan brought up diversity on The View to further her point. “The View is 25 years old next year. We’ve only had one Asian-American [person] cohost this show,” she said, referring to Lisa Ling, who co-hosted from 1999 to 2002. “Does that mean one of us should be leaving because there’s not enough representation? … Is identity politics more important than the qualifications for the job?”
Social media lit up asking if Meghan herself was qualified for the job. “I wasn’t aware she had any qualifications other than being John McCain‘s daughter,” one Twitter user wrote. “There have been more View co-hosts who are children of famous people than View co-hosts who are Asian. Does she really think that’s because there aren’t enough Asian people with the right qualifications?” CNN’s Abby Phillip tweeted.
This is the second time this week that Meghan has gotten herself into hot water for comments she made on The View about Asian-Americans. John Oliver called her out on the March 21 episode of Last Week tonight for a 2020 segment about COVID-19. Meghan had said that she had “no problem” with then-President Donald Trump calling it the “China Virus.” Meghan apologized the next day on Twitter, writing:
“I condemn the reprehensible violence and vitriol that has been targeted towards the Asian-American community. There is no doubt Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric fueled many of these attacks and I apologize for any past comments that aided that agenda.”
Mark Wahlberg Honors Mom Alma After Her Death With Photo Of Her & His 4 Kids: ‘Miss You’
Mark Wahlberg paid tribute to his late mother, Alma Wahlberg, with a beautiful photo of her cuddling up with her grandchildren.
Gone, but not forgotten. Mark Wahlberg honored his mother, Ama Wahlberg on Instagram with a sweet photo two days after announcing the devastating news to his fans. The Transformers star, 49, posted a beautiful throwback of Ama sitting on a couch surrounded by his four adorable kids: Brendan, 12, Ella, 17, Grace, 11, and Michael, 15. Mark and his wife, Rhea Durham, are in on the cuddles, too.
He captioned the post, “Miss you grandma” with a red heart emoji. Mark announced 78-year-old Ama’s death in an April 18 tweet. The Daddy’s Home star posted a lovely photo of his mother with a huge smile on her face, captioning it, “My angel. Rest in peace.” Ama’s other children, including singer Donnie Wahlberg, also honored their mother online. Donnie, 51, penned a lengthy tribute on Instagram accompanied by a slideshow of photos and videos.
“I’m so blessed to have been brought into this world by, raised by, taught by and set on my life’s path by, such an amazing woman,” he wrote, in part. “My mom Alma’s joy for life, love and people — combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from — undoubtedly shaped me into the man that I am. She was, without a doubt, the most loving human being I’ve ever known.”
Ama was mother to nine children and was a regular fixture on Wahlburgers, the A&E reality show that followed the family’s Boston-based burger chain. The show, which aired from 2014 to 2019, showcased many members of the Wahlberg family, including son Paul Wahlberg — who later named another restaurant Alma Nova in her honor. “I was very hesitant and nervous at first,” Alma told USA Today in 2014 about being on the show. “[My sons] said, ‘You can talk to a wall, Ma. You won’t have any trouble.’”
Suri Cruise Sports Long Hair While Posing With Flowers & Goofing Off With Friends On 15th Birthday
Suri Cruise looked super sweet while enjoying her 15th birthday in the Big Apple! The teenager showed off her long hair and posed with some flowers as her friend snapped some pics!
Suri Cruise is another year older! The teenage daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise turned 15 years old on April 18, and she looked like she had a total blast on her big day. The newly minted 15-year-old spent her birthday out and about in New York City and was spotted having some low-key birthday fun. Suri and a few of her pals were seen snapping some photos together while posing with a pretty bouquet of pink and white carnations.
The birthday girl also showed off her long, brunette ‘do, and looked like the spitting image of her famous mom, 42. Naturally, Suri followed the necessary safety precautions while celebrating her birthday amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She and her friends wore protective face masks while having fun in the Big Apple. The teens only removed their face masks while smiling for a quick photo, or enjoying some delicious ice cream!
Despite her birthday falling during the middle of a pandemic, Suri truly showed the she was enjoying her day like so many around the world who celebrated their special days during COVID-19, as well. Suri’s mom, Katie, made sure to celebrate her daughter’s birthday by taking to Instagram and sharing a carousel of photos to her social media account. Far more precious than the intimate pics of Suri and her mom, however, was the sweet caption Katie wrote and dedicated to her teen.
“Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you,” Katie wrote, adding a string of exclamation points and a number of emojis. “I can’t believe you are already 15!” Katie concluded the post. It’s hard to believe that Suri is already 15 years old. After all, it doesn’t seem like that long ago that she was just a tiny tot being photographed while out with her famous parents.
Over the course of the last few years, though, Suri’s adoring mom has made a concerted effort to offer her daughter as normal an upbringing as possible. Suri’s bond with her mom is so incredibly strong and it’s amazing to see the teen grow up to be her Katie’s mini-me. Fans cannot wait to see what the future holds for the teenager!
Happy 42nd Birthday, Kourtney Kardashian: Look Back At Her Hottest Photos Of All-Time
In honor of Kourtney Kardashian’s 42nd birthday, we’re looking back at some of her hottest outfits ever!
Kourtney Kardashian is celebrating another trip around the sun on April 18! The reality star turns 42 this year, and she has many reasons to celebrate. For the big day, we’re taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at some of the sexiest outfits that Kourtney has ever worn. From little black dresses to short shorts and more, Kourtney definitely knows how to dress to impress.
Black Leather Dress
In December 2019, Kourtney attended the Dior Men’s Fashion Show in Miami. She wore a black leather dress with thin straps, paired with strappy, open-toed heels. Although the dress reached down to Kourt’s knees, it provided a sexy, dominatrix style for her night out. She wore her hair in wet curls, with minimal jewelry and subtle makeup to complete the edgy look.
Purple Slip Dress
When it comes to mini dresses, Kourtney is definitely a pro. She’s even mastered the art of wearing lingerie as clothing! In June 2019, Kourtney enjoyed a night out with some friends, and she wore a purple slip dress for the occasion. The ensemble featured lace detailing on the edges, and could easily be doubled as a nightgown. However, Kourt dressed it up with some heels and it was the perfect mini for a night on the town!
High Slit Dress
Another one of Kourt’s sexiest looks was worn in Feb. 2019. Kourtney attended the amfAR Gala with sister Kim Kardashian and looked absolutely stunning. She rocked a black Versace dress featuring a double scoop neckline and a sexy thigh-high slit. The eldest KarJenner paired her look with pointed toe stilettos and styled her hair into a dramatic high ponytail.
These are just a few of Kourtney’s best looks, though. She’s one of the most fashion-forward celebs we know, so of course there are plenty of other outfits to admire. Luckily, we gathered some of her sexiest ensembles of all-time and put them in the gallery above for your viewing pleasure. Happy clicking – and happy birthday, Kourtney!
